Matteson Community Center Breaks Ground
June 2009
Today, construction started at the future site of the Matteson Community Center.
The $24-million dollar facility will include an indoor competition pool, gymnasium, locker rooms, spa, salon, pre-school, childcare rooms, youth dance studio, multi-purpose rooms, and meeting rooms. The community center will also feature a spray pool, running track, football stadium, two baseball fields, soccer field, three tennis courts, two basketball courts, a storage garage and four parking lots.
Greenwood Management Partners is serving as the owner’s representative and community liaison. Leopardo is serving as the construction manager and William E. Brazley and Associates as the architect.
GMP will enforce a community goal that requires at least 50 percent of the workforce on the project to be Matteson residents or of surrounding communities. The general contractor will also have to seek out subcontractors with companies based in Matteson or surrounding communities, or with certified minority-owned business enterprises.
The community center is scheduled to be open in January 2011. |
